I founded YunnanTea.com after more than 16 years working within Yunnan tea industry, where my experience has included tea blending, fermentation, production and export.

Working closely with tea production has given me a perspective that extends beyond the finished product. I have seen how tea is made, how decisions are made inside tea factories, how traditional practices are passed on, and how Yunnan tea is presented and understood in international markets.

Over the years, my interest in tea has expanded from production into its history, science, fermentation, culture and place within the wider global tea world. I became increasingly interested in a simple question: how can Yunnan tea be documented and explained in a way that is useful to people outside China, without reducing its complexity to commercial labels or simplified narratives?

YunnanTea.com grew from that question.

My aim is not simply to promote Yunnan tea, but to build an independent and reliable English-language reference for understanding it. I want this platform to bring together historical records, scientific research, professional experience, field observations and the knowledge of people working with tea, while remaining clear about the difference between documented evidence, observation, interpretation and what is still unresolved.

I hope YunnanTea.com will grow beyond my own work and eventually become a platform shaped by many contributors, researchers and tea professionals. My role is to establish its editorial direction and standards, and to help build a body of knowledge that can stand independently over time.
